Lake Juliette – A pristine 4,000-acre lake known for fishing, boating, and kayaking, with a peaceful, undeveloped shoreline perfect for a relaxing day on the water. Anglers frequently catch bass, crappie, and catfish here. Kayak and Paddle Board Rentals available! Rum Creek Wildlife Management Area – A wildlife haven offering hiking, birdwatching, hunting, and fishing. It’s a prime spot for spotting bald eagles, deer, and waterfowl in their natural habitat.
Historic Landmarks
The Whistle Stop Café – The most famous landmark in Juliette and the filming location for the 1991 movie Fried Green Tomatoes. The surrounding downtown still has the same small-town charm seen in the film. Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site – One of Georgia's best-preserved 19th-century farm and cotton plantation sites. Explore original homes, a gristmill, sawmill, barns, and exhibits that tell the story of rural Georgia life from the 1800s through the early 1900s. Juliette Dam – Built in 1921, this historic hydroelectric dam on the Ocmulgee River is a favorite for photography, fishing, and enjoying the sound of cascading water. The Historic Juliette Mill – Once one of the largest water-powered grist mills in the Southeast, the mill remains one of Juliette's most recognizable historic structures and adds to the town's industrial heritage. Juliette United Methodist Church – A beautiful historic church that also appeared in Fried Green Tomatoes. The adjacent cemetery contains movie-related points of interest. Buddy Threadgoode's Grave– A fun stop for movie fans looking to recreate scenes from Fried Green Tomatoes.
